3 essential steps for every winter skincare routine

As the weather gets colder, the days get windier and we’re indoors more with the central heating on, it’s safe to say that winter can play havoc with our skin.  During this time, many people can experience a damaged skin barrier and find that their skin is more dehydrated, weak and sensitised than usual.  But with some adjustments to your winter skincare routine, your skin will be protected, moisturised and soft this over the next few months.

Exfoliation

Exfoliation is key throughout the whole year, but during the winter, it’s important to maintain that.  Yes, even if your skin is going to be hidden away for months!  Exfoliating the face and body will ensure that any dead skin cells hanging around on the skin’s surface will be removed, allowing the new cells to be generated.

Once a week, use Gommage Yon-Ka to exfoliate the face.  This is a grain-free 4-in-1 treatment that exfoliates, brightens, purifies and moisturises the skin.  It’s gentle enough to be used around the eyes, exfoliating even the most sensitive skin types without irritation.  It contains borneal and brown algae which have soothing and calming properties, making it ideal for exfoliating during the winter when the skin might be more delicate than usual.

For the body, exfoliate regularly with any of the sugar scrubs from the Aroma Fusion range.  Each of them transform from a scrub into a milk when they come in contact with water, exfoliating rough skin and removing dead skin cells.  What makes these a treat for the winter skincare routine is that they leave a nourishing veil on the skin, helping to keep it soft and hydrated.

Hydration

Hydration is key all year round, but in the winter, we might find that we need to increase the hydration levels even more.  The Hydra No1 Masque gives instant and long-lasting hydration for even the driest of skin, comforting and cocooning it gently.  Used twice a week, all skin types can enjoy the benefits of it, even those with super sensitive skin.  Repairing and regenerating active ingredients including vitamins A, E, C, B5 and jojoba all work at plumping, smoothing and softening the skin.

It can be applied as a thin layer and left on the skin overnight, leaving you with intensely hydrated, repaired skin.

Moisturise & nourish the skin

Keeping the skin hydrated from within by drinking 1.5 litres of water a day and adapting your diet to include fruits, vegetables and essential fatty acids can make a marked difference in your skin during the colder months.

For your winter skincare routine, add the Yon-Ka Hydra+ Booster or Yon-Ka Nutri+ Booster to your day and night cream to give your skin extra nourishment.  Hydra+ is for those with dehydrated skin and those with dry or oily skin types can both use it.  It reduces tightness and roughness in the skin instantly, leaving it supple, comfortable and radiant.  Nutri+ contains vitamins E and F, nourishing and revitalising the skin immediately.  A couple of drops will give comfort, tone and radiance to the skin.

Don’t forget to moisturise and nourish the body too!  Use Lait Hydratant Detox or Lait Hydratant Vitality daily and allow them to soften the skin, leaving it beautifully supple.
